Just living the dream… another beautiful day in Ketchikan. Sunny, slight breeze, 75 degrees, AND no I am not lying! Am I in San Diego?
With annual rainfall averaging in the vicinity of 160 inches per year, with the record topping out at over 200 inches in one year, it is a rare sight indeed to see such sunny weather. Although, I must admit that we have had exceptional weather this summer. We started off the season with 2 -3 weeks of straight sunshine in April and even managed to hang out on the beach and watch the jet skiers cruise around Clover Pass north of Ketchikan.
Perhaps we have been spoiled with the weather thus far, but hey, after last summer I am of the opinion that we are entitled to at least a few weeks of bliss. Especially after a number of long-time locals have repeatedly mentioned that the 2008 summer season was one of the worst in recent memory.
Either way, Ketchikan has a way of handing out a little nice weather right at the moment when you are starting to wonder why you moved here in the first place. At that moment, when the clouds part and the rain stops, a person is quickly reminded of how lucky they are to call Ketchikan home.
